Share or not share

When to share and when not to share information can sometimes be a really difficult area to understand.

When sharing information we must have consent to share outside of our organisation. If there are no child protection concerns, information sharing is based on informed consent: what, who, why?

However, where there is a Safeguarding concern:

  • We have a duty to refer
  • Consent is not required
  • Speak to your DSL wherever possible
  • Take action promptly
  • Information is only shared on a need to know basis

You can download the governments guidance and an information sharing flowchart below.
