Course Aim: Managing an allegation can be a difficult and stressful situation for all concerned. This session is to help you understand the whole process from receiving the initial allegation, recording and reporting and through to its conclusion.
Handling a complaint can be difficult, this is where we need to ensure that our policies and governing documents for church order are fit for purpose.
We will take you through sub-threshold allegations; where an allegation doesn’t meet statutory reporting and also statutory reporting.

Drawing on his experience working within a Local Authority, where he managed and investigated allegations against school staff and volunteers in his role as a Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO), as well as leading investigations and allegations into concerns below the statutory threshold within churches, Paul shares learning how churches and Christian charities should respond to, and manage allegations involving people who work with children, young people, and adults at risk of abuse. He explains how to manage safeguarding risks effectively, protect those involved, and minimise potential reputational harm by ensuring robust systems, policies, and processes are in place.
