Our consultation charges and membership packages
We know our customers value specialist advice and support when a safeguarding issue arises. In order to provide consistent, high quality advice, it is necessary for us to make a charge for this consultation service.
Consultation is provided in 15 minute blocks and can be for as long as a customer requires. Each 15 minute block will be charged at £30.
(Most straightforward safeguarding issues require approximately 15 minutes of advice )
Gold members receive 45 minutes per year free of charge.
Silver members receive 15 minutes of (DBS only) advice free of charge. There is also access to an elearning module here
Consultation blocks can be booked online here, with a prepayment facility.
A non-member organisation can also book a consultation, however there will be an additional surcharge of £30 for each consultation session
Access to the DBS portal
Your church must be a paid member of CSS to have access to the DBS portal for DBS applications.
Membership and DBS Costs
We are committed to keeping our costs as low as we possibly can for churches and faith-based charities. We understand that costs can sometimes be an issue or a barrier for churches but having professional safeguarding advice and guidance should not be looked at as a cost, but as an investment and a form of insurance to ensure that a church can safely continue with its kingdom work. We would recommend safeguarding resourcing be looked at within your church’s budget management.

DBS Costs
Each DBS costs £8.50 to process, this does not include any charges the DBS makes for basic checks or paid workers checks see table below.
Digital ID checking
Volunteers and paid staff can now upload just their Passport and driving licence to the DBS system, saving the Lead Administrator or ID verifier time. The driving licence address must match the address on the DBS application form, otherwise the ID check will fail.
The charge for this is an additional £5:40.

The cost of the DBS certificate is exemt form VAT, all other charges include VAT
*You are charged for each digital ID fail, after 2 attempts the ID reverts back to a manual check

Update Service Fee
Our portal can run the annual checks for you provided your applicant re-registers each year

Scottish DBS
- Enhanced (Paid worker) – £25 (DS fee ) plus £20+VAT (admin fee)
- Enhanced (Volunteer) – £20+VAT (admin fee)
DBS Digital ID Checks
- Digital ID check for Basic, Standard or Enhanced DBS checks - £4.60+VAT each.
The charge for a Digital ID Check is in addition to the normal DBS processing fees.
Other DBS related charges
- Route 2 External ID Verification £10.00 +VAT – needed when an applicant cannot produce a for example: Passport, Driving Licence or Birth Certificate.
Bespoke pieces of work
Charges for audits, reflective supervision and other pieces of work, are costed initially by scoping out the work to be carried out, agreeing the scope, and then discussing with the church or charity.
Policy Review
The cost of a policy review is £180.00*. This includes time to read, annotate, track change suggestions and comment on any policy amendments
Training for Church Volunteers – for up to 25 people
