Our Founders

Paul & Sue, founders of CSS, have both been actively involved in church life together for well over 45 years. Paul’s passion for theology, preaching and teaching, the application of Biblical principles to life and the sharing of the Gospel is absolutely fundamental in ministry at their church in Loughborough where they serve. Sue is actively involved with the hospitality, the young adults work and the music ministry.

Having been involved for many years in churches and also in other (non faith based) charities, Paul moved from manufacturing industry and started working for a Local Health Authority alongside other professionals to support families who had children with disabilities. It involved supporting families who had children with life limiting conditions and/or long term health needs. This led him to pioneer the government’s Early Support Pilot Programme for disabled children in Leicestershire. Working in other Local Authorities he was managing various early intervention projects and services for vulnerable children and families.

In 2007 Paul was managing a Sure Start Children’s Centre Programme supervising a team of over 20 staff. Working with social care as the Safeguarding Lead for the programme, having to make decisions on the escalation of child safeguarding cases needing intensive  intervention. Recently, Paul was working in the LADO team in the Safeguarding Unit of a Local Authority. This role involved managing and dealing with allegations and concerns about school staff as well as others other staff within voluntary organisations. He was part of the investigation team.

After raising their 4 children, Sue started out as a Family Support Worker for families of children with disabilities. Soon after, became a voluntary sector lead for the Sure Start Children Centre programme. She also represented children & young peoples voluntary sector organisations on safeguarding and workforce issues, reporting into the Local Authority. Sue moved into Childrens Services as a Safeguarding Trainer nd Advisor. Now managing the team in Children & Family Service’s Team in Leicestershire, she coordinates the professional development all staff in the Social Care & Early Help workforce and newly qualified social workers.

She is both a qualified and an accredited Mental Health First Aider and Mental Health First Aid Instructor for Adults and Youth.
